About the Program
We at Sacred Heart believe that kids learn best from their parents!
Each first Wed of the month (Sept-April), Parents and children attend eight evening sessions at Sacred Heart School. While parents attend a dynamic faith formation session over the upcoming unit, children are grouped by grade and receive classes led by our knowledgeable Catechists.
All classroom instruction for children is in English, while parents have the option to receive their formation in English or Spanish.
Most importantly, parents are expected to educate their families between each session at home with the bilingual material provided. "Because Faith is best taught and lived out in the family, the Church calls parents to be the first and foremost educators of their children".

Bilingual Textbooks
We offer two easy-to-use curricula by Loyola Press.
Family Formation uses Finding God. Watch the video to learn more about this great bilingual program.
For all the families with kids who need their sacraments, we uses "God's Gift" as our bilingual SacPep text.
Both are rich in multimedia and provide a robust learning platform for children and parents. Our goal is to partner with and empower parents to teach their children about our Catholic faith.

Family Formation is for all families that have kids in grades K-6th grade.

We meet only the first Wednesday or each month September through April. Parents receive a dynamic presentation about some aspect of our Catholic faith and the upcoming unit in order to prepare parents to teach their children. While this is happening, their children go to their grade's classroom and learn similar material. Then parents are responsible to finish up the next three sessions with the children during the duration of the month.

You commit only 1.5 hours each month at the church, then about 15 minutes per child per week on your own time.

Yes there is. Parents are expected to read through 3-4 chapters every month with their child(ren). We are here every step of the way to support parents in this call.

That's ok! This program is designed so you can learn together. All of the knowledge comes from the textbook which is in English and Spanish. If a parent gets asked a question they do not know the answer to, contact Stacy and she can help you answer and suggest resources to help you learn!

Wonderful! Sacred Heart believe supporting young families is very important so we created a formation ministry that supports young families called Forming Faithful Families. Read more about this program here.

Yes. Family Formation will put your child in our SacPrep class. This class prepares your student for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. It will work the same way with a monthly class together at the church, followed by 3-4 sessions at home with parents teaching from a provided text.

So wonderful! We are happy to provide you with support however we can. I do think the program helps connect families and helps grow community. Each month, parents get to receive a dynamic presentation which can both teach and inspire your own personal faith. Likewise, the kids can grow in friendship with one another and grow in a sense of belonging.
